Original UB40 Members Reunite

Three of the founding members of UB40 have announced that they are reuniting and recording new songs under the same band name.
Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue co-launched the group back in 1978 and toured with the band until Campbell and Virtue quite in 2008, with Asto also leaving this past November. The trio have since signed with Cooking Vinyl Records and are planning to headline the Bearded Theory Festival at Catton Hall in Derbyshire this May.
UB40’s original line-up played together for nearly 3 decades before Campbell’s departure, which was due to management issues, following shortly by Virtue. The remaining members continued to record and tour even after four of the members were declared bankrupt in October 2011 due to the failure of their record label DEP International.
Prior to the news of the reunion, Asto, Campbell and Virtue played a concert at London’s O2 Arena in December and since then have announced a selection of international tour dates. They released the following statement, “The three founding members have reformed and reunited to bring you the true sound of UB40. Ali, Astro and Mickey are currently in the studio working on a new album…more info soon.”
UB40 was formed in Birmingham and enjoyed huge success in the 1980s, selling over 70 million records and reaching no. 1 with three of their singles, ‘I Got You Babe’, ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.
